For the longest time, I’ve wanted to explore Mexico. Go on a road trip across the border. Wear a sombrero (I SO would!) Practice my C+ Espanol (It was only because I was late to class so much. First year of college + 8AM class = bad news! I seriously remember strolling in there 15 minutes late with soaking wet hair… if you do this more than once a week, some teachers take points off.)

Right now, I’m sitting only a couple hours away from Tijuana, which is currently not the safest place to venture. I think I’m scrappy enough to handle it- but I’ve been advised otherwise…and no one will take me! Instead, Bobby took me to visit his very Mexican grandparents and spend a few days at their quaint hacienda.

They have the BEST backyard. Birdhouses, an orange tree, grape vines, a plum tree, fig tree, kumquat tree (kumquats are my favorite fruit-this has little to do with their taste and so much to do with their adorable size. Yes, fruits can be adorable), and all kind of wonderful DIY projects that I can’t wait to copy when I have my own Mexican backyard.

Here are a few photos I took today:

A beer chime? Seriously? I want to make a hipster chime out of PBR cans.

Bobby picking some oranges for an afternoon snack…

This is one of my favorite ideas. Making a stepping stone out of a broken plate. Do you suddenly have the urge to start busting Bone China? I think I’ve always secretly wanted to break some fancy plates – but now, a craft project from it… is this awesome or is it awesome?

Oh, and here’s my senior photo and a bird house – courtesy of Bobby Ewing Photography:)

Adios!
