Hayley of theweekendfile was the winner of the photography giveaway I did earlier this year with Danielle of Sometimes Sweet. Always looking for an excuse to visit the west coast, Bobby and I were delighted to fly out and meet up with Hayley and her boyfriend, Geoff, and their adorable pup, Lewis. We met at Newport Beach and saw someone walk by with a balloon. Hayley commented on how cool it would be to have some balloon photos one day… I confessed my disappointment in myself for not thinking of bringing one ahead of time. As soon as the words left my mouth, Bobby disappeared “I’ll be right back.” I knew what he was doing and I was grateful. I was in the middle of chatting with Hayley when her face changed “Oh my gosh. Please tell me that’s him…” I turned around and in the distance saw Bobby, 20 plus balloons in tow. Talk about over-compensating- I actually thought he would take flight any second. Kids were running up to him- parents were trying to purchase them. He WAS the balloon man. It was pretty funny- and would’ve been quite profitable if he wasn’t such a softy handing them out left and right. One kid even returned his FREE balloon for a different color.

The point is, Hayley and Geoff are awesome. Lewis is a cutie. Bobby makes things happen. And I had such a fun day. It felt more like hanging out with friends than a photo shoot.

Justin & Jessica engagement at the Biltmore Estate

Jessica was headed downtown to meet a group of her friends for dinner. When she arrived, naturally she got stuck sitting at the end of the table with two randos she didn’t even know. Story of my life, except I get the awkward guys that want to talk about how over their ex they really are and if I have a 401k. Jessica lucked out much better than I ever have- she sat next to Justin, someone she could actually have a conversation with. They hit if off and chatted it up the entire night. After seeing each other out multiple times in a group setting, they finally found an excuse to hang out one on one. Things must have went pretty good because now they are getting married!

I had such a wonderful afternoon shooting the lovely Danielle and Heath. Danielle told me it was supposed to rain, but I promised her it wouldn’t… and so it did. In the rain, with their dog Paisley, and their cat Piper, they showed me all around the sweet little town of Leesville, SC. Thank you Danielle and Heath for letting me document your love and friendship. It was a joy spending the day with you.

I had such a blast shooting Amberley and Josh’s engagement photos. They are both so fun and light-hearted and I think these photos reflect that. I’m really excited about shooting their wedding in only a couple of weeks.

Asheville Wedding Festival

This past Thursday I participated in my first ever Wedding Festival show in Asheville, NC. Here are a few images of our booth.

So, this one’s a little crooked, but we cut, folded, stamped, sewed, and stuffed these hand-made folders with info and a special discount to brides who book by October 1st:) And by we, I mean, every person in sight- I had my sisters folding, friends cutting, and my mom sewing these babies together!)

Even though he is entirely too old to do such a thing, this guy pulled an all-nighter with me. Stayed up printing, mounting, cutting, folding, coffee running- even sewing! Yes, he too, got stuck behind the sewing machine for a few hours. With no sleep, we were basically zombies the entire day… not the flesh-eating kind though.

Rachel and Jeff were saints. They tangled themselves in twine for a good hour or two until I was satisfied with the placement of the photos. They set the whole thing up themselves. I told them it was because it was very important that I erase every pencil mark off each piece of wood. But really, it was because I trust them more than I trust myself when it comes to wood and twine and straight lines and four inches and life in general, really.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and said hello. It really was a pleasure meeting every single one of you, from the bride-to-be’s, to the other photographers, to the medic man who couldn’t have been less interested in a wedding show yet still spent the evening hanging out with us.

Thanks to Marc and Colleen of Weddding Festivals for such a great opportunity and a wonderful show! I look forward to the next one:)

Tim and Shanna are the kind of couple that you can just tell that they are in love. The way they look at each other, and talk to each other and can’t stop smiling around each other. Seriously- we tried to do some “serious-looking” photos- couldn’t do it! They are just too happy! They were so sweet and up for anything. I felt like I was photographing old friends. This, paired with their ridiculously good looks, made my job a piece of cake!

Shanna is a writer, go read her blog foodloveswriting.com. It will make you hungry. Tim is a web developer. They are both hilarious and made each other- and me, laugh the entire time.

This first photo is probably my favorite. Shanna is absolutely stunning!

As soon as I saw this tree, I thought it was the coolest thing ever… I still think so.

Tim & Shanna, Congratulations on your engagement! Thanks for letting me share in this special time. I am so glad I met you both:)
